10 Essential Things Christians Need To Know
1. We are saved by grace not by works, but our works should reflect our beliefs.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (NKJV)
James 2:14-17 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (NKJV)
2. It is impossible to please God without believing in Him and actually believing Him.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV)
James 1:6-7 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord. (NKJV)
3. Human promises can be broken, but God’s promises can never be broken.
Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. (NKJV)
Psalm 89:34 My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. (NKJV)
Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (NKJV)
4. There isn’t anything created that has the power to separate us from God’s love.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NKJV)
Song of Songs 8:7 Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house, it would be utterly despised. (NKJV)
5. God does not choose according to the world’s standards, he chooses according to His own will.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. (NKJV)
1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (NKJV)
6. Praising God loudly with our mouths is not the equivalent to praising God with a genuine heart.
Matthew 15:8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. (NKJV)
John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (NKJV)
7. God does not show favoritism, nor does He reject anyone.
Romans 2:11 For there is no partiality with God. (NKJV)
John 6:37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. (NKJV)
8. God gives us free will to make our own decisions, but He does not give up on us making the right ones.
Jeremiah 21:8 “Now you shall say to this people, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death. (NKJV)
Jeremiah 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. (NKJV)
9. Things around us change all the time, but God remains unchanged.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (NKJV)
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. (NKJV)
10. Prayer is the most effective method of communication to talk to God.
Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. (NKJV)
Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. (NKJV)
