Have you been letting God guide your life or have you been the one sitting behind the steering wheel making moves without God’s guidance? Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” So, why is it so hard to let God guide our steps? Why is it hard to just let go and let God take control of everything – decisions, projects, etc. After all, no one knows what the future holds but God. So, wouldn’t it be better to be guided by the one who knows what tomorrow holds? In this post I’m sharing 5 tips to help you live your life guided by God. Use these tips to stop controlling and start trusting.

5 TIPS TO HELP YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE GUIDED BY GOD
1. Seek Guidance Through Prayer
There is no better way to ask for guidance than through prayer.
And God has already given us complete liberty to come before him with confidence, sincerity, and petitions. God wants to guide us the same way he guided his people through scripture. But it’s up to us to go ask him for guidance.
–Ask God to show you his PATHS so that you don’t lean on your own.
Psalm 25:4 Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. (NKJV)
–Remember: No matter what decision you need to make, put God’s will first.
Psalm 143:10 Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness. (NKJV)
2. Find Guidance In Scripture
Once you have opened your heart to God and asked him for guidance, let him talk to you through his Word. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.” Only God can enlighten you and show you what decisions you need to make and what paths you need to take.
-God provides guidance, instruction, and direction in His word.
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye. (NKJV)
-After praying to God, let God talk to you (guide you) through scripture.
Psalm 119:133 Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. (NKJV)

3. Don’t Move Without God
Instead of guessing what paths God wants you to take, let him show you the paths. Don’t move, make decisions, walk, or be guided by your thoughts only. Let God be the one to take you where He needs to take you.
–The same way the Israelites didn’t move unless the cloud did (God’s presence), you shouldn’t move without God’s guidance.
Exodus 40: 36-37 Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up. (NKJV)
-Don’t guide yourself to places where God’s presence is not in.
Exodus 33:15 Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. (NKJV)
-Let God walk before you always.
Deuteronomy 31:8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.” (NKJV)
4. Trust That God Knows Best
No matter how hard it is to lose control and let God take control, trust that God knows what is best. God’s plans will always be better than ours, no matter how good are plans “seem” to be in the moment.
-Trust that God will lead you where you need to go.
Isaiah 48:17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go. (NKJV)
-You may make a lot of plans, but at the end of the day God knows what plans will prevail and what plans need to be erased.
Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. (NKJV)
-Trust that God will lead you in paths you never even imagined.
Isaiah 42:16 I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them. (NKJV)
-Believe that God will guide you correctly and continually.
Isaiah 58:11 The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. (NKJV)
5. Accept God’s Guidance
The only way you’ll find peace in God’s plans is when you accept them. Accept that God has the best plans for your life. Accept that you need his guidance for whatever decision you have to make. And accept that without God’s guidance, you can’t move forward. Only then will you be able to live a life guided by God.
– Keep God present in your entire life – decisions, small and big moves, projects, etc.
Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (NKJV)
-Let God guide you until death.
Psalm 48:14 For this is God, our God forever and ever; he will be our guide even to death. (nKJV)
