Bible Characters Who Started Over
Peter
Although Peter was a disciple of Christ who walked with him, witnessed many miracles, and had a close relationship with Christ, he needed to start over.
Only after falling (denying Jesus Christ three times), was Peter able to understand how fragile he really is and how dependent on Christ he had to be in order to endure adversity. When he realized that and repented, God restored Peter and gave him a fresh start. Peter was no longer going to be just another disciple. God made Peter a leader who had to be responsible for the flock of God (Read: John 21:15-19).
Rahab
After years of being a prostitute in Jericho and living a hopeless life, Rahab needed to start over. Even though Rahab was a Canaanite women, God did not forbid her from starting over. In fact, God saved her entire household from destruction, made her part of an important mission (the war against Jericho), and made her a part of the line of Jesus Christ. God was able to give her a brand new identity, home, and life.

The Prodigal Son
The open arms of a Father who missed his son gave The Prodigal Son an opportunity to start over. It didn’t matter how much time, goods, or energy he had wasted recklessly away from home. When The Prodigal Son returned home, his father welcomed him with a banquet, new clothes, and a new opportunity to start over.
No matter how lost we may feel, God is always willing to welcome us back home, remove our shame, restore our lives, and let us start over.

Paul
The Pharisee of Pharisees who thought he was serving God fervently needed to start over in order to please God. Paul spent a good portion of his life serving God the wrong way: persecuting Christians, living by works and not faith. But when Jesus encountered Paul on his way to Damascus, Paul’s life was transformed entirely.
Paul went from being a pharisee to being an apostle and a persecutor to persecuted.
Paul needed to start over in order to be used by God.
