My mind loves to plan, anticipate, and analyze, but I’m learning that real peace only exists in the now. God keeps reminding me that He’s not in yesterday’s regrets or tomorrow’s what-ifs, but right here, in the present. Living in the present matters because it’s the only place where life actually happens. We often spend so much energy replaying the past or worrying about the future that we miss what God is doing right now, in those moments that will never come again.
The present is where we can hear His voice, notice His blessings, and experience His peace.
Yesterday is gone.
Tomorrow isn’t promised.
But today is a gift.

Mary of Bethany
While Martha was busy doing, Mary was simply being. She understood that true peace comes from being present with Jesus, not from trying to manage everything perfectly.
Luke 10:39–42 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word… And Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.’ (NKJV)
The Widow of Zarephath
She had nothing guaranteed for tomorrow. All she had was enough for one meal! But she trusted and obeyed in that moment. Her faith to act in the present opened the door for God’s miraculous provision in the future.

Paul lived each day as it came, whether he was in prison, traveling, or preaching. His peace didn’t depend on his situation but on Christ’s presence in the present.

Final Thoughts
Learning to live in the present isn’t easy, but it’s holy work. It’s where we learn to let go of what we can’t change, trust God with what we can’t see, and open our hands to what He’s offering right now.
