Have you ever asked yourself or wondered “who am I to God?” Sometime ago we studied who God is in the life of Christians and 40 biblical truths: who does God say I am. However, today we’re going to take it a little further and dive into scripture to take a look at how God sees us in His eyes. Who are we really to Him? Are we just his creation or are we more than that? What is our true identity according to scripture? And so much more! So, if you have been struggling to understand your true identity in God or need a reminder of how loved and special you are to God, below we’re going to explore key portions of scripture that state who God says you are to Him.

WHO AM I TO GOD?
1. HIS CREATION
You have been fearfully and wonderfully made by God.
Psalm 139: 13-14 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. (NKJV)
You have been built by God.
Hebrews 3:4 For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. (NKJV)
You are His workmanship created for good works.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (NKJV)
You were created in the image of God.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
You are a new creation in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (NKJV)
2. HIS CHILD
You were given the right to be a child of God.
John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. (NKJV)
You are a child of God through your faith in Jesus.
Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (NKJV)
The Spirit is a witness that you are a child of God.
Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (NKJV)
God’s children are led by the Spirit.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.(NKJV)
3. HIS PEOPLE
You are a holy people to God.
Deuteronomy 7:6 “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. (NKJV)
God has established you as his holy people.
Deuteronomy 28:9 “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. (NKJV)
You are a holy nation to God.
Exodus 19:6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” (NKJV)
You are God’s special people
Deuteronomy 26:18 Also today the Lord has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments. (NKJV)
4. HIS SHEEP
You are a sheep of His pasture.
Psalm 78:52 But He made His own people go forth like sheep,
And guided them in the wilderness like a flock. (NKJV)
Psalm 79:13 So we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, Will give You thanks forever; We will show forth Your praise to all generations. (NKJV)
Psalm 100:3 Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. (NKJV)
5. HIS INSTRUMENTS
You are a chosen instrument of God.
Acts 9:15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. (ESV)
You are a weapon of war.
Jeremiah 51:20 “You are My battle-ax and weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces; With you I will destroy kingdoms. (NKJV)
You were chosen to bear fruit.
John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. (NKJV)
